Apicoectomy
Root end surgery, also known as Apicoectomy, is an endodontic procedure in which a tooth’s root tip is surgically removed and a root end cavity is prepared and filled with a biocompatible material. The bone naturally heals around the root over a period of months restoring full function.
This procedure usually takes places when a conventional root canal therapy has failed and a re-treatment is unsuccessful or not advised. The bone naturally heals around the root over a period of months restoring full function. Following the procedure, there may be some discomfort or slight swelling while the incision heals.
